it wasn’t one time, but several times in high school when my friend erica and i would skip class, get high and cruise in her dad’s cadillac. in our heads we were the biggest bad asses. listening to j.lo and ja rule, running reds, and just generally being obnoxious suburban white girls.
this song, specifically, is a singalong car accident waiting to happen.

i was thinking about what to be for halloween this year. listening to dylan triggered me thinking about joan baez. i’d be her for halloween, but i’m not sure how many people would get it. after looking through google images for forever… these are a few of my favourites of the joan and bob combination. cuuuuuute.
i love you joan! i love you dylan!

It’s been a while. Life seemed pretty stressful there for a while. School finishing. Long distance relationship. Searching for jobs. Being frustrated searching for jobs. FOUND A JOB.
So i have a job, but not just a job…i have a career. I am really living the life of a regular grown up person who went to school for 6 years for an actual purpose. I’m ridiculously happy that i was able to find an amazing full time job in my field and i spend all day helping families (or watching things on my computer when it’s not busy at all). I was doubting finding a counseling job in the mental health field for a long time, and was probably going to have to start releif and work other jobs….but then i magically found a wicked full time job with benefits, vacation time and major responsibilities all at the same time.
Hey life, you’re pretty cool sometimes.
So i woke up this morning feeling extremely happy and inspired. This is what i’ve realized: I don’t want to be stressed (with job, life, friendships, relationships), and i want to try new things and spend more time outside. I want to work hard at what i’m doing and pay off my debts, move out, live in a city and explore every day. I want to plan a garden. A vegetable garden and grow my own food.
My next post will be more interesting, full of pictures and things of that nature. I’m going to continue to watch 16 and Pregnant now.
I also really like The National.

we’ve been lazy, admittedly so.
between finishing school, finding real jobs, still working part-time jobs, and even working for free, it’s hard to find the time to blah-og. well i am going to change all that by waking up early and posting something before the aforementioned life going-ons.
i’ll make this new beginning short and sweet and leave you off with the band.

but more like the canadian music awards.
i would like to give a huge shout out to land of talk for their nomination for video of the year.
their entry is a beautiful song entitled “it’s okay”. the video compliments the song, and the song compliments the video. the singer’s voice is so charming and sweet. it’s a real singing voice, that’s for certain.
definitely check it out.
oddly enough, on the band’s facebook page, the singer posted a kayne west video that looks exactly like their ‘it’s okay’. i watched it and was blown away at how similar (identical) the videos were. if you are interested in this comparison, watch kayne’s coldest winter video after the land of talk video.
they are also embarking on a mini tour. if they are in your area (or somewhere relatively close) i recommend going to see them. and if tickets are available, get them in advance. last land of talk show i tried to go to was at capacity hours before they were set to play.
i’ll leave you with my favourite land of talk song, ‘some are lakes’. it’s from their most recent album, also named ‘some are lakes‘.

i’ve been following mark hunter’s cobrasnake photo site for several years now. steph and i have even been in one of his albums. i love watching trends that surface in LA and eventually make their way to our canadaland (the good, the bad, the bizarro- i love them all). i remember seeing cory kennedy in some ridiculous french fry sweater and thinking ‘who designs this’ and ‘where can i get one’. i soon found out that jeremy scott was responsible for such wacky designs. i follow him on twitter. i follow him in pretty much any capacity. most recently, he has a collection inspired by mickey mouse. is it a coincidence that i LOVE mickey mouse? because i LOVE mickey mouse. anyway, here’s a few of his pieces in this collection.
as seen in the lady gaga video.
